SQL Sever Solutions Explorer

Current version......... SQL Server 2008 R2......... but, the problems/request applies to later versions as well.

This is a request to the MS Sql Server team.

I work a service desk to assist clients/users with enterprise software problems as they related to SQL Server.  I use the solutions explorer to house and catalog requests by department.  Its a very handy tool as it keeps related problems under one solution for documentation and historical purposes.  Its kind of a quirky tool as it has its own personality but, once you understand its faults, its a very useful tool.  One of the annoyances is that when a solution is first loaded, all the projects w/in the solution are expanded which clutters the solution window.  To use it, i first have to collapse all the projects that i'm not currently working on; its a royal pain the keesters as some of my solutions contain ten to 15 projects.  It would be helpful that in the next SP for SQL Server, that some functionality be added to default to a collapsed configuration or, add this to the Tools->Options; maybe under the Environment/General tab?

And.... add the ability to create additional folders w/in each project.  Currently, MS limits the folders to three, Connections, Queries, and Miscellaneous. W/in the Miscellaneous folder I store all types of files, PDF, Email, Txt, Excel, Word, Screen casts (swf) and the list goes on and on.  It would be nice if I had the ability to create sub-folders under the Miscellaneous folder to better organize my documentation and historical files.

Thanx.

Ed.
