copying SQL 2012 databases onto new SQL 2014

Hi,

I have a Live SQL using SQL 2012/SP2, and have backed up all 10+ databases. I also have a Test SQL 2014. I would like to restore these 2012 backups onto SQL 2014, but straight restore did not work. How could I accomplish this scenario. I have been looking all over the Forums but still not finding appropriate article so far.

Any pointer is appreciated.
