SQL Server 2012, 2014, 2016, MSA and gMSA Service Account Management

I want to use Managed Server Accounts or Group Managed Server Accounts for SQL Server service accounts.  I have read a lot of material on the web about this.  Depending on the age of the posting support for MSA and/or gMSA is either there, or not, or it is partial.  I'd appreciate help finding answers and pertinent documentation references to the following questions:

It appears that gMSA is a better approach to this effort than individual MSA's.  Is this the case?

SQL Server 2012 supports gMSA's.  Will this be true for SQL Server 2014 and SQL Server 2016?

Will gMSA support a SQL Server instance on an active/active failover clusters?  If so, is it true for 2012, 2014 and 2016?
