SSMS 2012 hangs when opening files or new query

I have an instance of SSMS 2012 on a Win7 64bit  8GB 4.5.net installed that will hang everytime when I try to open a new tab for any reason - new query, open file, modify jobs, sp's, etc - when I have a window open and connected to a specific database. If I change the connection to another database I can open a new window.  However when I try to modify SP's or the like from that database it will hang every time, unless I script it to a file.   There have been instances where I have been able to break into the hang, and it seems that it is having difficulty connecting to the database in that instance.  If I cancel the attempt to connect and then attempt the connection it will connect.   So it appears that there may be an issue with the SSMS connecting to the database on the auto connection.

I know SEVERAL people have been seeing this, but appears that there are no answers.  I have restored the database to another environment with no issues.  I am able to connect and do anything with that restored database (on another server).

All the databases where converted from 2005 to 2012 and this particular one is the only one having issues.  The compatibility level is 110.  It is mirrored, mixed mode authentication, and I am the DBA.  I am at a loss and who appreciate any help or advice.  The only thing I have not tried was a complete re-install as that it not really very practical.
