Using Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio version 10.50.1600.1, whenever I press the "New Query" button on the toolbar (or choose File->New->Query with Current Connection) a dialog box pops up. In its title bar is the word "Encoding". The body contains two things: the name of the tab its about to add (e.g. "SQLQuery13.sql") and a combo box (also entitled "Encoding:" with a colon this time). The combo-box defaults to "(Auto-Detect)". I can press OK or Cancel, but it makes no difference; the tab is opened regardless.
How do I turn it off?
I would like very much never to see this dialog ever again. A great feature would be a checkbox in it to say "Never ask me this question again". I've looked in Tools->Options, but find nothing associated with this. Yet it must be configurable because others in my office have the same tool and have never seen this dialog (lucky them).
Thanks for your help. Sorry if this is the wrong forum. I don't see one for the tool itself.
