Might seem like a strange question - but as I understand it Microsoft keeps 3 copies of a database at any time of redundancy. I wondered how long these are available for and whether it is possible to recover from them.
What happened is that I setup a "test" database for a website we are building. As we just set it up recently and it was just for test, I had not setup an automated backup and at 5AM this morning when I was updating the site, I neglected to backup the database before deleted and replaced it.
It turns out that people had been entering live data on the system all day and now they want it back. Needless to say - I now have an automated backup in place and I will review my update process.
in the meantime - given the above scenario, is there any way to have the database recovered to a certain point in time?
